Eine Soundinstallation übersetzt zweidimensionale abstrakte Kunstwerke in Klang und macht sie räumlich erfahrbar. Visuelle Eigenschaften der Werke werden in Klang übersetzt und als begehbare Installation inszeniert. Da visuelle Kunst für Menschen mit Sehbeeinträchtigung oft nur eingeschränkt zugänglich ist, zielt das Projekt darauf, Barrieren abzubauen, Ausstellungskonzepte zu hinterfragen und neue sinnlich-emotionale Zugänge zu eröffnen – ohne das Kunstwerk durch die Übersetzung zu verfälschen. Durch Sonifikation werden visuelle Daten in akustische Signale übersetzt. Ein eigens entwickeltes System überträgt formale Merkmale der Werke in Klang. Das Konzept entsteht partizipativ und praxisnah in Zusammenarbeit mit blinden und sehbehinderten Menschen.

Sonification as an Inclusive Art Education Method in Exhibition Design
A sound installation translates two-dimensional abstract artworks into sound, making them spatially perceptible. The visual characteristics of the works are transformed into acoustic elements and staged as a walk-in installation. Since visual art is often only partially accessible to people with visual impairments, the project aims to reduce barriers, question existing exhibition formats, and create new sensory-emotional modes of access—without distorting the original artwork through translation. Through sonification, visual data is converted into acoustic signals. A specially developed system transfers formal characteristics of artworks into sound. The concept is developed collaboratively and practice-oriented in cooperation with blind and visually impaired participants.
