Die Arbeit untersucht den Knoten als kulturhistorisches, technisches und gestalterisches Phänomen. Ihre multidisziplinäre Methodik ermöglicht es, den Knoten nicht nur als technisches Hilfsmittel, sondern als universelles Strukturmodell zu begreifen, das funktionale, symbolische und soziale Dimensionen vereint. Durch die Verbindung von Theorie, Experiment und Gestaltung entsteht ein transdisziplinärer Zugang, der den Knoten auf unterschiedlichen Ebenen als Prinzip erfahrbar macht. Daraus entwickelt sich eine Schmuckkollektion im Baukastensystem, deren Elemente miteinander kompatibel sind, sowie Wandhaken mit austauschbaren Einhängern – inspiriert vom funktionalen und formalen Prinzip des Kreuzknotens.

An Interdisciplinary Exploration of Theory, Experiment and Design
The project explores the knot as a cultural-historical, technical, and design phenomenon. Its multidisciplinary methodology makes it possible to understand the knot not merely as a technical tool, but as a universal structural model that unites functional, symbolicand social dimensions. By combining theory, experimentation and design, a transdisciplinary approach emerges that renders the knot perceptible as a principle on multiple levels. This results in a modular jewellery collection with mutually compatible elements, as well as wall hooks with interchangeable attachments—both inspired by the functional and formal principle of the reef knot.
